A joint event of the Pastoral Care Ministry and the Adult Education Ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church will be held on Saturday, September 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Presentations include “Caring for Caregivers”, “Dealing with Addiction in the family”, Being Pulled in all Directions: Strengthening Boundaries with Others”, “Living Wills and Power of Attorney” “financial recovery after a significant life event” amongst others.  Brochures are being printed and will be available shortly.

 First Presbyterian Church of Arlington (FPCA) is having its annual Canned Food Drive.  This will benefit Arlington Charities. As an ongoing ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church we are offering a workshop to reach out to those who need support and resources as they care for people with life-altering and chronic long-term conditions. Choose from six different presentations covering all aspects of caregiving. The presenters are licensed professional counselors, attorneys, accountants and financial planners from our community. We believe the church is a place of support and resource for both our spiritual and physical needs. Please consider joining us for this day as we offer support, encouragement, and valuable information. There is NO COST for this event and CHILDCARE is available with reservation. LUNCH will be provided!

 All Church Vision Planning and pot luck breakfast Saturday, August 14, 9 to 11:30 pm

On the morning of the 14th of August at 9:00 a.m. all members are asked to attend what the vision ministry is calling a Church Ministry analysis.  All members and regular attendees of Grace Presbyterian Church will be asked to fill out the Church Ministry Analysis so that the session can use the results at its planning retreat on the 21st.  Results will be shared with the whole congregation in late august or early September please plan to attend.  If you know you will be gone contact Joy Geppert or the church office to obtain a Ministry Analysis Form.  All forms need to be returned by Sunday the 15th.

Yes, we did say SATURDAY! Rev. Sanders and the Vision Ministry request the honor of your presence for breakfast and church ministry analysis on Saturday, August 14. Bring your favorite breakfast dish to share and enjoy some fellowship and help do your part to move the ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church forward.

After breakfast we will be completing a church survey. Pastor Craig has used this survey at previous churches and feels it is a vital starting point to defining our direction for the future. The survey will be tabulated and we will have small group meetings in September to discuss the results.

When the survey is complete, we will then go back to the “What You Do Best Profiles” and work to implement all the information we have collected. We appreciate your support and your patience in this process.

          Princeton is married to Charity and they both have three wonderful children Obinna (18) just completed his freshman year at UTA, Daniel (14) is going to be in the 9th grade, Esther (11) is the Daddy’s girl and will be going to 6th grade.  Princeton and his family have been residents of City of Arlington for the past 3 years and North Texas residents for over 20 years. They have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church Dallas for the past 7 years where he is an elder.

Liturgist training, Tuesday, August 10, 7:00-8:00 p.m.  This is a mandatory meeting for anyone wishing to serve as liturgist.  Everyone must go though this training even if you have been a liturgist in the past.  If you cannot attend the training your name will not go on the list to serve as liturgist. We will be joining with Westminister Presbyterian Church at their church for our summer VBS program.  This year we will be using Group’s Curriculum call Egypt and exploring the life of Joseph from the Old Testament Book of Genesis.  (One of Pastor Craig’s favorite stories!)  Please visit the link on our website and volunteer or sign up your children, neighbor’s children for this fun week.  Stay tuned for more information!

 All Church Vision Planning Event 

    Saturday August 14, 9 to 11:30 a.m. - pot luck breakfast and all church survey for vision planning. Please plan to attend. If you know you won’t be able to attend you can still fill out the survey.  It is essential that we get as many people to fill out this survey so that we get the most complete picture of the church as possible.  The session will be using this input at there Saturday planning retreat on the 21st and then presenting the findings and plans for implementation in September so please take seriously your input and fill out the survey on the 14th.

Kate Loveless, associate pastor at Trinity Presbyterian in Topeka, Kansas, and recent graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will be returning to Grace Presbyterian, her home church, for ordination on August 22, 2010 at 2 p.m.  Details will follow but mark your calendars now!

The Officer Nominating Ministry is now beginning the process of taking nominations for the Elder Class of 2013, as well as nominations for a Youth Elder for a 1 year term.  Please pray about this.  There will be a box available in the Narthex for the names of those that are on your heart.  Forms will be available too but you are welcome to write the name(s) on a piece of paper for submission.  Thank you so much.

Calling all volunteers!  As we are planning for our 25^th anniversary on April 8-10, 2011, we have a sign-up on the bulletin board in the narthex for you to volunteer for a specific area.  Thanks to all of you that already signed up to help!  We still need volunteers for the banquet on Saturday night which involves helping Terry and John Hendricks with the set-up and decorating.  Kathy Wulff needs volunteers to help with selling the new 25^th anniversary t-shirts and Sheryl Machen needs volunteers to help with the mission project.  If you have any questions, please call Linda or Chip Black at 817-261-4223 or lblack@wans.net.
