The youth raised over $13,000 which will save 36 children for a year!

The youth had an awesome Famine weekend in February! We raised over $13,000 which will save 36 children for a year!

We had about 80 youth from Grace, Trinity Methodist, and St. Barnabas Methodist participate in this year’s Famine as well as six sponsors who did everything with us! Way to go!

Thank you to everyone who donated supplies and prayed for us during our weekend of fun and saving lives! The challenge is not over: 25,000 children are still dying every day. But because of what we did, some of those kids get to see tomorrow’s beauty! If you want to sponsor a child and keep them alive, educated, and healthy check out the child sponsorship part of www.30hourfamine.org. Please keep praying for the children all over the world who do not get enough to eat today and every day.

VBS 2009 was a wonderful experience thanks to fantastic efforts of the dedicated staffs from Grace and Westminster!

VBS 2009 (August 3-7) was a wonderful experience thanks to the fantastic efforts of the dedicated staffs from Grace and Westminster. This was the second year we have combined our efforts and we hope to do so again next year. Each evening between 24 and 28 children (plus moms and dads) participated by dawning ancient robes and sashes to join their Roman family members. Extollo began with singing and movements. The favorite song was “Hello.”

Family Cassius, for example, wore red sashes and gathered for Family time during which there was emphasis on the Bible point of the day. Each child received a coin with the Bible verse of the day imprinted and a coin pouch.

After Family and Extollo time, families began their routine for the evening with visits to the Old Rome Market Place featuring remakable lectures about Roman aqueducts (complete with working model), Roman lifestyles and architecture. Wandering through the Market Place the children had the opportunity to purchase such delicacies as Rat Meat or an abacus with their denarii. Families visited with Paul chained to the oppressive Brutus. It was with Paul that everyone learned of his detention in Old Rome and hopes for the Underground Church. There was great excitement at the conclusion with Brutus announced that he too would forever be a Christian. The children became aware that the Church had to go underground and move to the countryside when the soldiers became a threat. Just as the first Christians had to move about to spread the good word, our VBS members learned that we need to spread the good word so the Church can continue to reveal the life and sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Once again, it's that time of year when the Women of Grace honor the woman who best represents the best in us -- she who has not simply contributed, but actually lives the life in which values are not explained in words, but are demonstrated every day.

Once again, it’s that time of year when the Women of Grace honor the woman who best represents the best in us — she who has not simply contributed, but actually lives the life in which values are not explained in words, but are demonstrated every day.

This woman works full time for the Salvation Army and is also at school full time earning a degree in Social Work. She gives to her community professionally, but she also has taught Sunday School, is involved in the Youth program, is involved in the Stephen Ministry, was a member of the North Texas Cursillo council, was the driving force of NEW DAY and LIGHTT. Despite her heavy responsibilities, this woman continues to answer God’s call with a smile on her face. With vivacity and dedication, she performs her work in the name of God.

The woman of the year for Grace Presbyterian Church of Arlington’s Women of Grace is TAMARA ROBB!

Congratulations, Tamara!
