A joint event of the Pastoral Care Ministry and the Adult Education Ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church will be held on Saturday, September 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Presentations include “Caring for Caregivers”, “Dealing with Addiction in the family”, Being Pulled in all Directions: Strengthening Boundaries with Others”, “Living Wills and Power of Attorney” “financial recovery after a significant life event” amongst others.  Brochures are being printed and will be available shortly.

 First Presbyterian Church of Arlington (FPCA) is having its annual Canned Food Drive.  This will benefit Arlington Charities.  All Church Vision Planning and pot luck breakfast Saturday, August 14, 9 to 11:30 pm

On the morning of the 14th of August at 9:00 a.m. all members are asked to attend what the vision ministry is calling a Church Ministry analysis.  All members and regular attendees of Grace Presbyterian Church will be asked to fill out the Church Ministry Analysis so that the session can use the results at its planning retreat on the 21st.  Results will be shared with the whole congregation in late august or early September please plan to attend.  If you know you will be gone contact Joy Geppert or the church office to obtain a Ministry Analysis Form.  All forms need to be returned by Sunday the 15th.

          Princeton is married to Charity and they both have three wonderful children Obinna (18) just completed his freshman year at UTA, Daniel (14) is going to be in the 9th grade, Esther (11) is the Daddy’s girl and will be going to 6th grade.  Princeton and his family have been residents of City of Arlington for the past 3 years and North Texas residents for over 20 years. They have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church Dallas for the past 7 years where he is an elder.

Liturgist training, Tuesday, August 10, 7:00-8:00 p.m.  This is a mandatory meeting for anyone wishing to serve as liturgist.  Everyone must go though this training even if you have been a liturgist in the past.  If you cannot attend the training your name will not go on the list to serve as liturgist.  All Church Vision Planning Event 

    Saturday August 14, 9 to 11:30 a.m. - pot luck breakfast and all church survey for vision planning. Please plan to attend. If you know you won’t be able to attend you can still fill out the survey.  It is essential that we get as many people to fill out this survey so that we get the most complete picture of the church as possible.  The session will be using this input at there Saturday planning retreat on the 21st and then presenting the findings and plans for implementation in September so please take seriously your input and fill out the survey on the 14th.

Adult VBS program for July 19-22

On four evenings in July, the 19-22, you and I are in for a treat.  Ghelin Menti, our Choir director, and I will be exploring a few of the 600+ hymns in our hymn book for their combined beauty both theologically and musically. We will begin with some light refreshment and then we will sing and explore the facets of faith found in the great hymns and songs of our faith. Each night will be focused on one of four themes- God the father /creator and sovereign; Jesus Christ, God’s son /Savior; God, The Holy Spirit /Redeemer and counselor; and finally the church, the body of Christ.

Habitat for Humanity “Sign the Stud” Mission ministry is sponsoring the 2010 fund raiser for Habitat for Humanity which began last Sunday, July 4.  For three consecutive Sunday mornings, we will have the opportunity to “Sign the Stud” and all proceeds will go towards sponsoring a Presbyterian-built home which will be built in Fort Worth this fall.  The stud that you sign will be installed in its permanent place inside an interior wall of the Presbyterian-built home and will act as a lasting tribute to the faithful sponsors who support this worthwhile project.  Congregants of Grace Presbyterian have been involved with Habitat for many years with generous financial contributions as well as many hours of labor and donations of food, music and on-site devotions, and your generosity has been instrumental for Habitat’s success in Tarrant County.  Look in the narthex for the Habitat table and grab a pen to “Sign the Stud” — $20 suggested contribution, but any amount is great! (Please put your money in the can by the stud and note on your check “Habitat” in the memo line)

Jose Lopez received the Rachel Henderlite Award, named for a former Austin Seminary professor and given to a graduate who has made significant contributions to cross-cultural and interracial relationships while at Austin Seminary.  Lopez is under the care of Grace Presbytery and will complete CPE requirements at Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas.

The John Spragens Award, honoring a former Austin Seminary professor, is given each year to an outstanding graduate to be used for additional study in the field of Christian education.  The award this year was given to Kate Loveless.  Loveless is a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Arlington, Texas.  Loveless has accepted a call as associate pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka, Kansas.

> For those of you who participated in a similar event, you know how fun and uplifting it is! And we get to sing the great old songs. Come and greet your church neighbors on Thursday June 3, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 as we sing songs from a simpler time. A huge bonus will be cobbler and ice cream for our parched throats!

During the week of May 23, the Nursery (Room 101) and Toddlers Room (102) will be undergoing renovation.  We will be replacing the original carpet in both Rooms 101 and 102.  We will be repainting the walls and replacing the counter tops in Room 101 as well as replacing the tile in the bathroom connecting the two rooms.

 For more details about our vision to update the children’s rooms, see the poster board on the wall outside of those rooms.
