The issue of care giving and caring for caregivers is always a part of life, whether it involves young families, mid-life or empty nesters. As an ongoing ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church we are offering a workshop to reach out to those who need support and resources as they care for people with life-altering and chronic long-term conditions. Choose from six different presentations covering all aspects of caregiving. The presenters are licensed professional counselors, attorneys, accountants and financial planners from our community. We believe the church is a place of support and resource for both our spiritual and physical needs. Please consider joining us for this day as we offer support, encouragement, and valuable information. There is NO COST for this event and CHILDCARE is available with reservation. LUNCH will be provided!

Brochures with registration cards are available in our church office. Register BEFORE September 10, 2010 using the form below or mail the registration card to reserve your space. For more information call Grace Presbyterian Church at (817) 468-0868.

All-Church Breakfast
Saturday, August 14, 2010
9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at church

Yes, we did say SATURDAY! Rev. Sanders and the Vision Ministry request the honor of your presence for breakfast and church ministry analysis on Saturday, August 14. Bring your favorite breakfast dish to share and enjoy some fellowship and help do your part to move the ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church forward.

After breakfast we will be completing a church survey. Pastor Craig has used this survey at previous churches and feels it is a vital starting point to defining our direction for the future. The survey will be tabulated and we will have small group meetings in September to discuss the results.

When the survey is complete, we will then go back to the “What You Do Best Profiles” and work to implement all the information we have collected. We appreciate your support and your patience in this process.

We are almost 25 years old! Get ready to Celebrate Silver on April 08-10, 2011!

Where were you 25 years ago? Likely it would take you, as it did us, a few minutes of searching your memory bank to remember bits and pieces and start to put it together.

Help! We need ADDRESSES!!

We’ve set up a new Facebook group called “Grace Presbyterian Church Arlington – 25th Anniversary”. On this page we hope to reach everyone with news of coming events. Additionally, we want to put the word out that we are looking for mailing addresses of former members and those that have moved out of the area.

We’ll take that information on the web or send it to lblack@wans.net so that we can get you and the rest of the membership on the mailing list for fun things we will be sending out. We have our first planned mailing November 1, 2010 and need to get all the address updates by the end of October.

Anniversary Events

We are working to make this a memorable event with a number of activities planned including :

Linda Black is reaching out to the former pastors to make them aware of the date with hopes they will be able to attend.

Rick Brunson and former charter member, Paul Ward are planning a golf tournament on Saturday.

Karen Ellen Anderson will be coordinating a tea that Saturday.

John and Terry Hendricks are coordinating a banquet for Saturday night.

Sheryl Machen and the Youth are teaming up to put on an all-generation softball game Friday night.

Barb McAllister is coordinating a commemorative quilt for the event.

Martha Kinard and the Worship Ministry will be putting together something special for Sunday worship.

The History of Grace

Up until the time of our 25th anniversary celebration, we will reminisce about the history of Grace Presbyterian Church. These musings are intended to give our congregation an opportunity to take a look back and share what it felt like to be a part of the wonderful thing God started in South Arlington in 1985.

We would love for you to share your memories! Please send your thoughts to Linda Black (lblack@wans.net) or to Becky Couch (becky.couch@tx.rr.com). If you have any pictures from those early days we would love to borrow them for the newsletter/website.
