This Sunday, August 8 we welcome guest speaker Princeton E. Abaraoha.  Princeton is a fourth year student at Perkins School of theology – SMU.  Princeton is a candidate under the care of Grace Presbytery Committee on ministry.  Princeton is originally from Nigeria, West Africa. Princeton has come a long way since his conversion to Christianity after a short bout as a child soldier in the civil war in his home Country Nigeria.

          Princeton is married to Charity and they both have three wonderful children Obinna (18) just completed his freshman year at UTA, Daniel (14) is going to be in the 9th grade, Esther (11) is the Daddy’s girl and will be going to 6th grade.  Princeton and his family have been residents of City of Arlington for the past 3 years and North Texas residents for over 20 years. They have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church Dallas for the past 7 years where he is an elder.

 VBS for Children, August 2-7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  We will be joining with Westminister Presbyterian Church at their church for our summer VBS program.  This year we will be using Group’s Curriculum call Egypt and exploring the life of Joseph from the Old Testament Book of Genesis.  (One of Pastor Craig’s favorite stories!)  Please visit the link on our website and volunteer or sign up your children, neighbor’s children for this fun week.  Stay tuned for more information!

 All Church Vision Planning and pot luck breakfast

Saturday, August 14, 9 to 11:30 pm

On the morning of the 14th of August at 9:00 a.m. all members are asked to attend what the vision ministry is calling a Church Ministry analysis.  All members and regular attendees of Grace Presbyterian Church will be asked to fill out the Church Ministry Analysis so that the session can use the results at its planning retreat on the 21st.  Results will be shared with the whole congregation in late august or early September please plan to attend.  If you know you will be gone contact Joy Geppert or the church office to obtain a Ministry Analysis Form.  All forms need to be returned by Sunday the 15th.

Liturgist training, Tuesday, August 10, 7:00-8:00 p.m.  This is a mandatory meeting for anyone wishing to serve as liturgist.  Everyone must go though this training even if you have been a liturgist in the past.  If you cannot attend the training your name will not go on the list to serve as liturgist. Kate Loveless, associate pastor at Trinity Presbyterian in Topeka, Kansas, and recent graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will be returning to Grace Presbyterian, her home church, for ordination on August 22, 2010 at 2 p.m.  Details will follow but mark your calendars now!

Caring for Caregivers

Saturday, September 18, 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

A joint event of the Pastoral Care Ministry and the Adult Education Ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church will be held on Saturday, September 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Presentations include “Caring for Caregivers”, “Dealing with Addiction in the family”, Being Pulled in all Directions: Strengthening Boundaries with Others”, “Living Wills and Power of Attorney” “financial recovery after a significant life event” amongst others.  Brochures are being printed and will be available shortly.

The Officer Nominating Ministry is now beginning the process of taking nominations for the Elder Class of 2013, as well as nominations for a Youth Elder for a 1 year term.  Please pray about this.  There will be a box available in the Narthex for the names of those that are on your heart.  Forms will be available too but you are welcome to write the name(s) on a piece of paper for submission.  Thank you so much.

 Celebrate Silver

Calling all volunteers!  As we are planning for our 25th anniversary on April 8-10, 2011, we have a sign-up on the bulletin board in the narthex for you to volunteer for a specific area.  Thanks to all of you that already signed up to help!  We still need volunteers for the banquet on Saturday night which involves helping Terry and John Hendricks with the set-up and decorating.  Kathy Wulff needs volunteers to help with selling the new 25th anniversary t-shirts and Sheryl Machen needs volunteers to help with the mission project.  If you have any questions, please call Linda or Chip Black at 817-261-4223 or lblack@wans.net.

Is God calling you to be a SPONSOR of YOUTH?   WE NEED YOU in order to make GPYC successful!  If you are in need of Renewal on Child Protection, please fill out the written portion of the CPP document and return it to Rick Brunson.  It is not necessary to go through the class for renewals. 

However, if you are being certified to sponsor Youth for the first time, please call Rick Brunson for documentation and orientation appointments at 817-925-9467. 

 Meals Sign-Up for the Summer Youth Meetings will be posted on the Youth Board!  If you would like to serve our Youth by providing a meal, we welcome you!  Youth will take up an offering for the meal to be given to the dinner provider.
