NEW SPIRITUALITY CLASS STUDY – 40 DAY JOURNEY WITH JULIAN OF NORWICH

The new study for the Spirituality Class will begin Wednesday, February 3, at 10 a.m. in room 100.  Mona Bailey, Parish Associate at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church will be moderating this study.  We will have the opportunity to learn from this 14th century woman who survived a life-changing illness in early adulthood, and following this received many spiritual revelations and became a guide to us through the centuries.  Books will be provided for this study, which will meet every other Wednesday morning.  Please join us as we study the words of this woman and how they bear witness to our lives today.

Confirmation and Commissioning Class Starting!

Are you in seventh grade or above and ready to deepen you faith through the process of confirmation?  Are you willing to dedicate one hour (okay maybe just a bit longer than an hour) a week to talking about and listening for God’s call to you?  Then join the confirmation class.  Meeting will be once a week starting in January.  At the end of this process, and if you feel God’s call you will meet with the Session and be confirmed on Pentecost.

The confirmation process will require commitment and dedication on your part, but it will also be interesting and fun.  You will be assisted by your own personal mentor (a sort of spiritual personal trainer).  We will have an organizational meeting February 7, 2010 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Grace.  At this time the program will be explained in detail and any questions you have will be answered.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Rev. Wood, Martha Kinard or Mark Hellberg.  We look forward to seeing you February 7 at 4:00 p.m.

Arlington Life Shelter is in need of the following:  Used/new towels, washcloths, deodorant bar soap, twin/full blankets and coats-critical for the mentally ill and homeless coming in from the streets and camps.   Hates, gloves, scarves, sweatshirts (men’s & women’s) and men’s socks are also in short supply.  Cash contributions would be a true blessing right now as we’ve just replaced two heating units and are striving to care for our residents housed in apartments throughout Arlington.  You can give through our website at www.arlingtonlifeshelter.org.  The shelter is operating 24/7 so deliveries can be made to the side door at any time (except Sunday from 8 a.m. – noon).

North Texas Presbyterian Cursillo, March 4-7, 2010.  Interested in spending a weekend that will enrich your faith and your daily life?  Consider attending the next Cursillo weekend in March of 2010.  Cursillo is an exciting resource of renewal for people of all ages.  Men and women alike are encouraged to participate no matter where they are in their faith journey.  All that is asked of you is that you bring an open heart and a sense of fun.  More information can be found at www.ntpcursillo.org or contact the Moderator, Kathy Greenough (kathy@greenoughs.com) or Becky Couch.  Applications can be found on the website.  There are a limited number of slots available, so act quickly to reserve your space.  Scholarships are available.  Cursillo is only three days long, but it lasts a lifetime!
