Sunday, December 13, Gehlin Menti, the choir and stringed instruments will be presenting “His Name Shall Be Called Wonderful” for the Cantata.

The Interim Pastor Nominating Ministry is pleased to report at last night’s stated meeting, the session unanimously approved a contract with Dr. Ronald (Ron) F. Wood (bio below)to be our new Interim Pastor—and he began work this morning!  (Wednesday, December 9)  To assist Ron in getting to each of us at Grace, WEAR YOUR NAMETAGS!

Bio:  An Intentional Interim Pastor, Ron has completed basic and advanced courses in Interim Ministry and has served in interim positions at DeSoto Presbyterian Church, DeSoto, King of Glory Lutheran Church, Dallas, and, most recently, at First Presbyterian Church, Rockwall.  He lives in north Arlington, so he’s especially happy about a very short commute!

Ron was born and raised in Sherman, Texas.  He holds degrees from The University of Texas at Arlington (Bachelor of Music), Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity) and Princeton Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).  Before going to seminary, Ron served in church music, Christian education and youth positions. Ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1987, he has served as Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Port Neches, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Wichita Falls, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Lubbock, and Organizing Pastor of a new church development in Fort Worth.  He is just completing his final term on Grace Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and will begin serving on the presbytery’s Examinations Committee in January.

Ron has one son, Adam, who, with his wife Jami lives in Richardson and are members of North Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas.

Join 6th Grade Sunday School for a trip to Mission Arlington.

The 6th grade Sunday School class has scheduled its annual trip to Mission  Arlington to work in the Christmas store for Saturday, December 12.  We are looking for additional people to come along with us.  We never know what our work assignment will be ~ we have helped shoppers pick out gifts, helped wrap gifts, unloaded trucks and sorted toys!  Whatever the assignment, we always enjoy the chance to help make the holidays brighter for those less fortunate.  If you would like to join us, please contact Martha Kinard or Barb Mcallister so that we can make sure we have adequate transportation for everyone.  Plan to spend the morning working.  Then we always “treat” ourselves to lunch before returning to the church.  We hope you will take a morning to show others that “Love Matters” at Grace.

COOKBOOKS FOR SALE!!   COOKBOOKS FOR SALE!!!!!

We still have about 175 cookbooks left for sale!  If you can help us sell them, we would be most grateful.  If you have friends through book clubs, social clubs, quilting clubs, school friends, craft fairs, etc., please try to sell them as they will make wonderful Christmas presents.  Now that things have slowed down a bit, through the rest of October and November, we will not be selling in the Narthex.  If you need to purchase cookbooks, just contact us; we will be happy to get the books to you.  If you have a business and would like to display the cookbooks, we will also be happy to set that up for you.  We have paid off the publishing costs and the money we make from here on out will go directly to the library at Grace.

                               P. S. We don’t want to have an ANGRY chef, anymore.
